Last graphic at the National Post was constructed throughout the week after the attack on the mall in Nairobi in the hopes that by the time publication came around we would have some accuracy in what actually went on during those four days. Same floorplans we used from the previous graphic. We used direct quotes from eyewitnesses throughout, these being the most reliable, and had the most subscribed-to timeline of event analyzed by a Canadian Special Forces Soldier who clarified what he felt had gone right and wrong for both sides.
We didn’t get everything we had hoped we might with this graphic. Even a week later the Kenyan government were keeping much of the mayhem to themselves. Mainly it seems that the civilians lost and everyone else won.
Three artists and one special forces dude. Sketchup and Adobe Illustrator.
